Perfect Skin Sarah Jagger

Get gorgeous skin: latest products in review

I’m road testing the latest products that are taking the beauty world by storm thanks to their amazing ability to blur the look of lines, wrinkles, large pores and rough textured skin. It may be an optical illusion – but it works!

Article originally produced for and published on ITVs This Morning

Brightening moisturiser

The latest creams hitting the shelves are giving us more than moisture alone. Olay Total Effects Wake Up Wonder is a super hydrating yet lightweight moisturiser providing seven anti-ageing effects in 1 product: exfoliating, pore minimising, firming, toning, protecting and brightening (with an added formula to reduce age spots), this mint infused formula is a zingy -fresh pleasure to apply in the morning. £14.99

Line and pore filling primer

Some under make-up primers are there to give added luminosity and some are formulated to reduce shine. Mostly they’re all worth their weight in gold for their ability to keep your makeup looking fresher, longer. Garnier 5-second perfect blur primer fills in fine lines as well as enlarged pores, smoothing the entire surface of the complexion before you’ve even applied foundation. £12.99

Illuminating liquid

I rarely make up a face without using an illuminator, and Revlon Photoready Skinlights has become my go-to product for all faces, no matter age, skin type or skin tone. Simply smooth all over the face before applying foundation and the subtle light capturing crystals will provide a candlelit hue to the complexion – and instantly younger looking skin! Dry or mature skins should apply liberally where as oilier skin types may prefer keeping it away from the forehead, nose and chin. £11.99

Double duty eye primer

Lid primers camouflage redness and obvious capillaries beneath the thin, delicate skin on our eyelids, making the eyes look instantly more youthful and wide-awake. I like Clinique All About Shadows Primer for Eyes. Use your fingertip to dab a little across the entire eye and any eye shadow you apply on top will last longer too, without creasing or smudging. £15

Multitasking foundation

Max Factor Whipped Crème cleverly combines hydrating glycerin and water together in a whipped demi-matte formula to take away shine at the same time as imparting skin with radiance. Oil free and moisturizing, this foundation is the perfect pick-me-up for all skin types, be it dry and flaky or even acne prone. £9.99

Budge-proof concealer

Tackle dark shadows, blemishes and redness with a concealer designed specifically not to budge or settle into fine lines. Benefit Fakeup Crease Control Hydrating Concealer contains apple seed extract and Vitamin E to nourish and moisturise as it covers even the most stubborn of flaws. £18.50

Mineral blush

Bare Minerals Rose Radiance gives the cheeks a fresh, healthy looking rosy glow that is virtually undetectable as makeup because it melds with the natural oils of your skin to look like… well… skin, only more radiant. Radiance powders can be used all over the face, however a pop of this applied to the cheeks is all you really need to cheat an instantly younger looking complexion. £19

Colour correcting powder

Airbrushed look skin has never been easier to achieve since Bobbi Brown launched her Retouching Powders. Oil controlling, brightening, colour correcting and available in six shades, these featherweight loose powders diminish the appearance of dark spots and fine lines at the same time as toning redness or sallowness. Choose yellow to correct redness, peach for pigmentation or pink to brighten. £25

Line blurring lip balm

There are lip balms and then there’s By Terry Baume de Rose lip balm. This cult classic may come with an extravagant price tag however the weighty jar can last upwards of a year and the benefits are endless. The creamy, rose-scented texture has shine without glossiness or stickiness and the subtle pale pink hue creates the illusion of lineless lips that appear fuller and younger. It can be used on cuticles as a daily softener and an SOS treatment on areas of dry skin. £38
